Here in Austin, it appears that word has gone around that the gas is running out. Prices are up 25¢/gallon and the lines are starting to stretch out into the street. I’m legit out of gas, but it looks like everybody is trying to top off before the gaspocalypse.

More price gouging. I wonder who started those rumors.

Fortunately for me, Costco is slower to react to these sorts of things, so I filled up today no problem, but I know it’ll jump in the coming days.

The cashier said it’s going for $4.99 in Dallas. Not sure if that’s true.

Funny thing, here in Dallas every one was assured there would be no gas shortage. Which then turned into everyone hearing that two refineries were down (True) and we were going to run out of gas (Which wasn’t true). This caused mass chaos and now we really do have a gas shortage. Unbelievable. My family only went before premium shot up to 3+ a gallon.

the people here at the house sounded a bit worried. i told them the old “well if i get low enough, i’ll just call in to work”...... should go over real good.... thats a big jump for while you are sitting there IN LINE..... i guess that they are just trying to slow the rush in whatever way that they can......

I haven’t had to get gas in a few days but a friend said it went up 20 cents in one day here in NC.

My kid’s swim coach sent out an email about getting gas before it runs out. Weird place for that to come from.
“Sorry, can’t come to work. Out of gas.”

SKY4 found prices as high as $4.99 for regular gasoline at a location in Mesquite and $3.99 for regular and $4.49 for premium at a station in Garland.

As 03Mach1 said, we’d be fine if nobody panicked. Now that there is a run on gas, we WILL be out of gas by the weekend.

Good luck. Phoenix ran out of gas once when I was in high school. The two pipelines that bring fuel in both went down. People would call each other when they spotted a tanker and huge lines would form at the stations. I remember sitting in line for an hour to fill up. It was nuts.

I just went out to a gas station at oak knoll & 183...still long ass lines. I’m going to make one last trip before bed. The only fucking reason...I’m almost on E. After tomorrow I don’t need much gas until monday. fuckers.
I gave my guys (austin and dallas offices) the option to work remote tomorrow so they do not have to waste hours of their lives waiting for gas

Yeah, I was legit on E when I rolled in. I’ve got to get the family to a football game downtown tomorrow, but then we’re going to hang low over the long weekend.

Oh, so THAT’S why all the gas stations were so busy this evening.
So now, all these greedy bastards are gonna stock up on fuel, which will cause an actual shortage, which will create a real panic, meaning that when I need gas this weekend to drive to Leander, I’m boned.
Mother fucker. Why can’t Teslas be cheaper?

Don’t know how they’re bringing that in. Maybe it’s near highway exits to catch travelers. On my way home from work, the normal $2.60-something was still in effect.

I was out and about today and everything was normal. I left at 6:30 to take my boys to soccer practice and the line at my corner market was out into the street. I figured maybe evacuees were arriving from Houston or something. Then I read KXAN and put 2 and 2 together. But yes, everything would have been fine if people just carried on as usual. But now there WILL be a shortage.

Hmm. Seems the panic hasn’t reached my area yet.
Here’s the plan:
We change all the signs that read “Bastrop” to now read “Gasstop”. Then we put two big gates across Hwy 71 at either end of the town. Then charge people $50/car to enter.

It was crazy here in SA too. Apparently the gas station closest to my house was one of the last in the area to not have run out and the line was at least a quarter mile out into the street causing a major traffic jam. So I was sitting there stuck after a long commute at what should be 3 minutes from my house listening to our mayor on the radio telling people not go out of their way to get gas. Is it Friday yet?

Naw man. On my way home from work the Exxon at Circle-A was already out (I assume because no cars there) and the Valero had a line out onto Bandera Road about a quarter mile long. I’m gonna assume the new Valero on 1560 at Galm was probably out too if the lines were that bad in Helotes. I heard Boerne is out too. Maybe better luck out towards Pipe Creek or Bandera? I’ve got half a tank and 2 gallons in a can. Hopefully that lasts until the tankers come in. I was planning on driving out to Burnet for the day on Saturday, but looks like I’ll have to scrap that.

Only 2.39? It’s up to 2.60 in the far south Chicago suburbs (last week it was around 2.05) which means in the city it’s gotta be almost 3 dollars by now and there’s a giant BP refinery right across the Indian a border and a giant Exon one in lemont. Thanks obama

i had heard bandera(town) was out, the stuff here in my “town” was about out, boerne was LOW(probably out), pipe creek ought to be out by now....... good thing that the new commuter gets better than the 7mpg of ol’ reliable, and will run on anything slightly better than water..... good times.
i guess that i’ll try and gas up early in the morning and see what is still around to be had. heres hoping nobody has floated the shell at the loop(across from jims), or the HEB....... it will give me an excuse to call in to work when i get real low though.......

I actually paid $2.37 for credit. And while I was waiting to fill up my wife’s car at the station next door, I think the price went from $2.55 to $2.64 while I was waiting in line.

I left the campus today for the first time since Sunday; gas prices jumped by 40 or 50 cents since then, depending on the station. They were all $2.59 for a gallon of regular on credit.

I went to Costco today, and despite the pump lines stretching out into the street they are still charging $2.16. I love Costco.
